Rob Sullivan was most recently global head of distribution at NAB Asset Management, where he and his team were responsible for distributing boutique investment manager services to institutional investors.
Before that he worked as global head of distribution for Treasury Group. He has more than 25 years in the financial services industry working with both boutique asset management firms and larger organisations.
Bell Asset Management deputy chairman Colin Bell said Sullivan would play a key role in helping the firm grow its assets under management.
"Rob will add further strength and depth to the business at a time when there is significant interest and appetite for asset management firms with a proven global equities offering," said Bell.
Bell Asset Management's core focus is its global equity capability where it has consistently outperformed global benchmarks and peers since 2003. Over this time period BAM has outperformed the MSCI World ex Australia index by 2.7% p.a., and by 5.2% over the 12 months to October.
The appointment follows that of Christine Feldmanis to the role of non-executive chair earlier this year.
