At Bell Asset Management, we remain committed to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into our investment process to drive sustainable long-term value for our stakeholders. Our approach to ESG is pragmatic, ensuring our focus remains on material issues that drive risk-adjusted returns while maintaining responsible investment practices.
Our 2024 Annual ESG Engagement Report is now available and can be read here. Key highlights for the calendar year include:
- ESG targets: Continued to achieve our strategies’ ESG targets, beating the benchmark with respect to our ESG score and carbon intensity (Scope 1 + 2).
- Proactive ESG engagement: Initiated ongoing engagements with companies on various ESG issues, in particular our strategy-wide engagement on biodiversity, water and waste.
- Corporate carbon neutrality: Reached carbon neutrality at a corporate level, underscoring our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint.
- Industry recognition: Received continued validation from external rating agencies, maintaining a 5-star rating from UNPRI and earning the Sustainable Plus designation from RIAA.
“Our focus on ESG is integrated within our investment process in a way that aligns with our broader objective of delivering strong returns for our clients,” said Chief Investment Officer, Ned Bell. “We engage with companies on ESG risks and opportunities where we see meaningful impact and relevance to our investment thesis.”
We have been a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) since 2014, and a signatory of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2023. The Bell Global Equities Fund, Bell Global Emerging Companies Fund, and Bell Global Sustainable Fund have been certified by the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA) since 2020; in 2024, RIAA recognised us as a Responsible Investment Leader for the third consecutive year.
